Anti-discrimination, abuse and exploitation training package for foreign citizens living in Romania

Author(s): The Romanian Association for Health Promotion (ARPS)

Language: Romanian

Issue Year: 2015

Summary/Abstract:

Through this module we are trying to provide migrants with the necessary notions and tools to understand and report on three of the most frequent ways in which their rights are violated in Romanian society: discrimination, abuse and exploitation (the last two in the labor market). The trainers will use simple language, avoiding the terminology of the legislation in force in order not to confuse participants. The emphasis will be on concepts of practical importance for the understanding of the 3 central concepts of the training: discrimination (differential treatment), abuse and exploitation. The approach will be interactive, with visual elements (movies, pictures), exercises and role-plays, followed by moderated discussions. The participants will be guided to arrive themselves at the definitions of the concepts and consequences and, at the end, will be guided to go through the steps of filing a complaint to one of the responsible institutions: CNCD/ITM/Police etc. The trainers will encourage group discussions and will have additional examples prepared for the situations discussed. During the lunch break, the evaluation forms will be distributed or, where appropriate, verbal feedback will be sought from the participants.
