Summary/Abstract:
Between February and December 2012, the Romanian Association for Health Promotion implemented a project aiming to identify effective methods of communicating with women smokers in Romania. The aim was to provide gender-sensitive data and communication tools for anti-smoking campaigns. The project targeted health professionals and the estimated 1.2 million women smokers and 400,000 adolescent female tobacco users. Activities included secondary analysis of existing data on tobacco use, qualitative focus group research to identify perceptions and barriers related to smoking, and evaluation of the educational materials developed. Project outputs consist of a Women's Smoking Behavior Analysis Report, a Communication Guide and a Communication Toolkit adapted to local cultural characteristics.
